The
K4K Junior course of Study is a unique
course of study where a student with low or
moderate disabilities may complete to
graduate with a Kits4Kids Certificate of
Achievement. The Junior Course of Study is
an outgrowth of Kits4Kids Foundation
Education Systems (EIPIC / Integrated
Kindergarten / CARE program / Senior
program / College). The following is a
description of the Junior Course of Study.
Plans are on the way to parallel the course
of study to international programs for
further academic progression.

-
The Junior Course of Study is intended
to meet the needs of a small group of
students with disabilities who need a
adapted curriculum that focuses on both
academic and life-skills for independent
living. The vast majority of students
with disabilities will complete one of
the other three modules of study with
the use of accommodations,
modifications, supplemental aids and
services as needed. The Junior Course of
Study is an adapted standard course of
study consisting of 6 courses in
English, mathematics, science, social
studies, moral studies, art including
physical education. Junior Course of
Study is designed to be self-paced for
the student yet competencies are
societal benchmarked for authentic
independence at school, work or home.
-
Students are also required to complete
technical education credits, healthful
living and electives, as needed to
complete local graduation requirements.
Portfolios can be used for students with
moderate disabilities that fulfill the
academic requirements of the courses.
-
The IEP Team, which includes parents and
the student, makes recommendations as to
the appropriateness of the Junior Course
of Study for a particular student based
on his/her post-school transition needs
and goals. Final selection of the Junior
Course of Study is by student and parent
choice.
-
Students may be required to pass an exit
exam depending on the transition needs.
However, each student must have
specified in their IEP the computer or
technology skills to be mastered
required by the next stage of
progression for transition.
-
Student can be enrolled at chronological
aged 7 and should graduate at
chronological aged 12. However,
assessment and evaluation of the student
will provide a better insertion in to
Junior Course of Study. There is no
limitation to the chronological age for
graduation however it must be
collectively agreed for authentic
independence for the student.
-
Students facing difficulties in
Kits4Kids Junior program (7 – 12) /
Senior program (12 – 18) are recommended
for transition into Kits4Kids CARE
program (10 – 18). This is in-line with
the overall developmental progression
developed based on both international
curriculum and local requirements.
